2012 Texas State JOAD Target Championships
June 2-3, 2012

Hosted by "THE JOAD" of Columbus, Texas. NOTICE: All archers will shoot at one distance, just like the National JOAD format this year. See below for specific info on your division.

The map shows the open pavilion (NO TENTS NEEDED!) with picnic tables and SHADE for all. Even the archers, standing on the grass, will enjoy shade for much of the day. There will also be a team round on Saturday afternoon after the 72 arrow round. It will be "weighted" to make it competitive for all archers, so please plan to participate in this, even at the bowman level.
LATEST BULLETIN The distances have been corrected for the younger compound divisions, which have been changed from the older FITA distances. Click HERE to go to the Registration entry page to see the proper distances.
What if I have an RV? This just in from the organizers of the JOAD State Target, Karen and John Magera:
"Just wanted to let you know (and ask you to help get the word out!) that there WILL be RV hookups available at the Fairgrounds.  The cost is $25/night.  Electricity (30amp only) and water is available - no sewer.  If anyone is interested, they should contact Paul Schlaudraff at 979/733-0020."

What Must You Wear? (and "NOT") To be consistent with the JOAD National Rules, the USA Archery dress code applies to Official Practice and Competition days.
No camouflage attire and no denim will be allowed at practice or tournament competition days, Please do not ask us to throw you off the field because you broke the rules!
By registering, you agree to behave. If you have any doubts about what that means, please review the USAA Code Of Conduct. No exceptions, No excuses.
For the Youngest Archers YEOMAN! That's the ticket! These are the little guys, frequently little brothers and sisters that want to play. Scores are not reported (but we do try and teach them how to keep score and record scores) and is a participation class only. Nominal awards are given to all the kids for participating with no 1st, 2nd, or 3rd designations. As such, we can then put the target at any distance so they spend more time in front of the target shooting than behind the target looking for arrows. Typically, either 20 or 15 meters on a 122cm face the whole time. If they need to take a few ends off to watch the butterflies or go to the bathroom, no big deal. If they want to stop half way through and then change their mind and resume once they have had their snack, so be it. It is all about fun and participation within the confines of the other competition for these little guys. So, my suggestion John is to start these guys at 20 meters and and adjust closer if needed. Per Tom Barker
Compound Scoring Reminder There is an inner X Ring in the outdoor target, be sure you understand HOW you will score your arrows in the gold (9/10/x values)!
