An Informal FITA
13 archers convened at the Blaschke Ranch near Columbus for a
fun day of archery. For several, this was their first outdoor FITA. Others were
tuning up for major upcoming competitions, while the remainder were just out to
have a good time. TSAA president Rick Stonebraker, a little under the weather,
still managed to come and serve as director of shooting.
After a short wait to let the rising sun get a little higher in the sky the FITA started. Shooting began at 9:30 with both long distances completed by 11:15. We were off to Eagle Lake for a BBQ lunch and back to shooting by 12:30. Except for the short intermission while the resident Bison walked through the shooting range, shooting progressed quickly and the short distances were done by 2:30. The field was cleared by 3:30 and everyone was safely on their way home.
Several archers shot personal bests, including Kevin Barker, Kathy Eisssinger, Holly Heinsohn, Meagan Lesak, Chad Lesak, Coral McMinn, Dale Garner, Ben Mieth, and Simone Petrosky (I think).
It was indeed a Fun FITA and represented the essence of Texas archery.
