University Of Texas Archery Club: Sunbird Special Tournament
This STAR FITA archery event will consist only of the FITA 70 Meter Round of 72 arrows shot at 70 meters. All rounds will be shot as a single line. All archers must shoot 70 meters.
72 arrow 70 meter rounds will be shot Friday, December 7, 2007, Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon, and Sunday morning, a total of 288 competition arrows in four separate FITA rounds.
LUNCH ON SATURDAY will be as short as possible. We recommend you either bring a lunch, or better yet, have an Austin institution bring one for you:
Please review this acrobat menu from the Austin-based restaurant, SCHOLOTZSKYs, and place an order with us via email at least 48 hours ahead of time. They will deliver the food to the field at the appropriate time, nice and warm, if we get enough people to sign up ahead of time.
The event will be held on the UT Practice field. To get to the Practice Field, go NORTH on Speedway till it dead-ends at the field. You can Use 45th street to get to Speedway from Guadalupe (Speedway runs parallel to Guadalupe). There is a map and you can enter this address into mapping software to obtain driving directions: 4698 Speedway, Austin, TX . If you have any questions, you can email the webmaster.

Times: Fri. morning - open practice, registration, and equipment inspection from 8am to 12 noon. Scoring starts 1PM and will be finished by 5PM, probably by 4PM. A taxi cab from Austin Bergstrom to the field will cost roughly $25, for example. Austin Cab company has 6 cabs with wheelchair lifts.
Weather Projections (note that the field has good wind protection - large walls of trees on both sides):
Friday: Areas of fog before 9am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 82. South wind between 10 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Friday Night: Increasing clouds, with a low around 63. South wind between 5 and 10 mph.
Saturday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. South wind between 5 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
Saturday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, with a low around 66. South wind between 5 and 10 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
Sunday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a high near 74. South southeast wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
No trophy awards, just legitimate FITA scores reportable to governing bodies and bragging rights.
